Through FSAs, an employee who is eligible to participate may take advantage of tax savings when paying eligible health care and dependent care expenses not paid by any other sources. Two FSAs are available:
  • Health Care FSA
Up to $5,000 per year may be contributed by the employee, and can be used for deductibles, co-payments and certain other health care related expenses.
  • Dependent Care FSA
Up to $5,000 per year ($2,500 if married and filing separate income tax returns) may be contributed by the employee and can be used to pay for eligible dependent care expenses, such as day care programs.

FSA maximums are as of January 2007 and are subject to change. Contributions must be applied to eligible expenses incurred each year, and any unused amounts are forfeited.
